Anselm Berrigan Broadsides Still Available from Argos Books

As we bow out for summer, we here at Metro Rhythm would like to extend a big thanks to everyone who helped make this year such a success. Looking back on many fine readers—and just as important, many fine listeners—we are truly grateful to have had so many dedicated supporters. Blue Angel Wines has eagerly hosted us for two entire seasons, and for that we simply couldn’t say enough. We look forward, with a few changes, to another fabulous season in the fall, though we still have a few summer projects to wrap up, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, for those of you who missed out at our May 13th reading, broadsides from Anselm Berrigan’s forthcoming Notes from Irrelevance (Wave, 2011) are still available from Argos Books. The folks at Argos only printed 75, so get ’em while they last!

It’s been a fantastic year! But we’re not done yet. Metro Rhythm is teaming up this May with Brooklyn’s own Argos Books for a night that will include readings by Anselm Berrigan, Bianca Stone, Marina Blitshteyn, Danielle Blau and Jess Grover. The event will be held on Friday, May 13 at 8:00 p.m. at Blue Angel Wines in Williamsburg.

Argos will print a broadside excerpt from Berrigan’s forthcoming Notes from Irrelevance (Wave, 2011) to commemorate the evening. Broadsides will be available at the reading for $8.

Anselm Berrigan is the author of four books of poetry, most recently Free Cell (City Lights Books, 2009). Other books include Some Notes on My Programming (Edge, 2006) and Zero Star Hotel (Edge, 2002). He is the current poetry editor for The Brooklyn Rail, and co-editor with Alice Notley and Edmund Berrigan of The Collected Poems of Ted Berrigan (U. California, 2005) and the Selected Poems of Ted Berrigan (U. California, 2011). A member of the subpress publishing collective, he has published Selected Poems of Steve Carey (2009) and Your Ancient See Through by Hoa Nguyen (2002).  He lives in New York City, where he grew up, with his wife, the poet Karen Weiser, and their daughter Sylvie.

Bianca Stone is the creator and co-curator of the Ladder Poetry Series, and editor of Monk Books. Her most recent poetry publications include Agriculture Reader, Conduit, Crazyhorse and Best American Poetry 2010. Her chapbook, Someone Else’s Wedding Vows, was released by Argos Books last year. Her blog is Poetry Comics.

Marina Blitshteyn wants to live many lives in one life. She studied at SUNY Buffalo. Instead, she’ll have to live one life intensely. She studies at Columbia University. Her first poetry chapbook, Russian for Lovers, was launched on February 24th, 2011 by Argos Books. She loves her friends. (Also, she’s been blogging about her new chappy at Jewish Book Council!)

Danielle Blau‘s poems, short stories, articles and interviews have appeared in The New Yorker Book Bench blog, The Atlantic online, Black Clock, The Wolf, Brown Literary Review, Perigee: Publication for the Arts, Minetta Review, The L Magazine, and multiple issues of Unsaid, among other publications. An MFA candidate in poetry at NYU’s Creative Writing Program, Blau currently resides in Ridgewood, Queens.

Jess Grover is an MFA candidate at Brooklyn College and a poetry editor at InDigest magazine.
