Your Poetry POPSICKLE Awaits You

It’s time to get ready for POPSICKLE!

POPSICKLE is a literary festival that brings together Brooklyn’s many reading series and small presses for one collectively-curated reading and book fair. And it’s now only weeks away.

When you come down to the Gowanus Ballroom on Saturday, July 23, you’ll get to see a host of great Brooklyn literary institutions– not to mention our own dazzling trio of readers: Dorothea Lasky, Julia Guez, and Ben Pease.

Readings will run from 1 to 8 pm, with music to follow. There will be food, drinks, and a raffle– in short, all kinds of summer fun! Add to that the fact that veteran Rhythmer Kirkwood Adams will be serving as the Metro Rhythm master of ceremonies, and you’ve got a icy-cool Saturday on your hands.

So, before it melts: July 23, 1-8, the Gowanus Ballroom (at 55 9th Street in Brooklyn). You can learn more here, RSVP here, and we’ll see you there.

Metro Rhythm at POPSICKLE Fest, 07.23.11

Popsickle

Guess we made a splash this year! In July, Metro Rhythm is curating three readers as part of Brooklyn’s POPSICKLE Festival. Our readers will include the “wonderful and talented” Dorothea Lasky, the “beautifully brilliant” (or was it “brilliantly beautiful”?) Julia Guez, plus one more reader still to be announced. It was very difficult to pick these folks out of all the fabulous writers who’ve read for us in the past, but we’re sure they’ll represent the series well.

The Festival will be held on Saturday, July 23rd from 4-7 PM at the Gowanus Ballroom in Brooklyn. Check back soon for updates on the full list of readers and events.

The entire POPSICKLE schedule will be available on their website, here.
